Grandes cirujanos, grandes canciones: ¿es una buena práctica escuchar música durante el acto quirúrgico?

Resumen

Hace algunos años, el British Journal of Medicine publicó un editorial sobre el uso de música dentro del quirófano que desató una polémica, no solo entre la comunidad médica, sino también entre la opinión pública. Como cabría esperar, hubo partidarios y detractores de esta práctica que, más allá de la controversia, hace décadas se lleva a cabo en todos los quirófanos del mundo. Esto hace que el debate de si es o no es una buena práctica escuchar música durante el acto quirúrgico sea aún más interesante y ciertamente necesario.

Abstract

A few years ago, the British Journal of Medicine published an editorial on the use of music in the operating room that sparked a controversy, not only within the medical community but also among the public. As expected, there were supporters and opponents of this practice, which, despite the controversy, has been practiced in operating rooms around the world for decades. This makes the debate about whether or not listening to music during surgery is good practice even more interesting and certainly necessary.
